Customs Seme Area Command generates Over N7.1 billion Naira Revenue in 2024

The Seme Area Command of Nigeria customs service has presented it’s 2024 revenue generation totalling seven billion, one hundred and sixty-six million, five hundred and seventy six thousand, three hundred and ninety seven naira, forty-nine Kobo (7,166,576,397,49)
This figure represents a 21.7 per cent increase for the corresponding period of 2023.

The Customs Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Kayode Kolade while addressing newsmen said he promised to consolidate on the achievements of his predecessors this he has achieved.

Citing on the trade facilitation activities of the Command, Kolade highlighted that the Export section facilitated over there hundred and six thousand metric tonnes of export produce with a Free on Board (FOB) value of over seventy seven point eight billion naira in the 2024 fiscal year.

On the Anti-Smuggling operations of the Command the enforcement unit sustained a meticulous surveillance of the land borders against illicit active of deterrents. The operations delivered a total of 921 interceptions consisting 37 tanker loads of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), 19 trailer loads of foreign rice, 24 used cars , 1934 parcels of hard drugs and narcotics among others.

The Duty Paid Value (DPV) of the items amount to one billion, eight hundred and ninety- five million, one hundred and seventy-five thousand, nine hundred and forty two naira (N1,895,175,942.00) for the period under review.

Earlier in the briefing the Comptroller engaged in the decorations of newly promoted officers. The Seme Area Command had produced 135 officers of both senior and junior rankings for the promotions.

The nationwide promotion which had formerly been approved by the Minister of Finance, Mr. Wale Edun elevating 4291 senior officers and later augmented by the Comptroller General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi approving promotion of 1419 junior officers.

Overall, 89 senior officers and 44 junior officers were promoted through the ranks.
