Dr. Bashir Alhassan Ambi-Mohammed, a distinguished staff and Head of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) Complaints Unit has added another feather to his cap with the recent completion of his PhD in Mass Communication. The degree was awarded by Lead City University, Ibadan, Nigeria, further cementing his reputation as a seasoned professional in communication, logistics, and public relations.

With over two decades of service at the NSC, Dr. Ambi has consistently demonstrated excellence and dedication to maritime development in Nigeria. Beginning his career at the NSC in 2000 as a Public Relations Officer, he has risen through the ranks to his current position as Head of the Complaints Unit. His leadership has been pivotal in ensuring operational efficiency and stakeholder engagement within the maritime sector.

Dr. Ambi’s academic journey reflects his commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth. In addition to his PhD, he holds a degree in Mass Communication from the University of Maiduguri (1995), two Master of Science degrees—one in Mass Communication from Lagos State University (2004) and another in International Transport from Cardiff University, UK (2011). He also earned an MPhil in Mass Communication and Media Technology.

Beyond academics, Dr. Ambi has played significant roles in the development of the NSC. As the former General Secretary of the NSC Staff Cooperative, he successfully managed funds, growing them from ₦30.4 million in 2007 to an impressive ₦420.6 million by 2021. His leadership extends to his role as General Secretary of the Lagos State branch of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT-Nigeria).

Dr. Ambi’s achievement has been celebrated widely within the maritime and communications sectors. His PhD is not just a testament to his academic prowess but also to his commitment to using knowledge to advance Nigeria’s maritime and logistics industries.
