“FG must equip the Transport sector effectively to Drive the Nation’s Economy ” — Dr. Segun Musa
Politician, Frontline Freightforwarder and security consultant Dr. Segun Musa has called on the Federal Government to equip the Transport sector in Nigeria effectively to drive the Economy so as to generate employment for youths in Nigeria .
Dr. Musa gave this advice in Lagos at a roundtable organised by Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) at the Association’s headquarters in Lagos .
According to him, Nigeria needs to inject the spirit of Transportation to the system so as to move the country forward .
He said–
” Everybody that has been driving the Transport system has been running a Litmus test. You cannot run a Litmus test and expect the desired results.
“Tankers are not supposed to move cargoes from one place to another . The rail system is supposed to do it. Rail has the capacity to move large volume of cargo at a reasonable cost “
He advised Government to move the standards organisation of Nigeria ( SON ) and National Agency for Food administration and control ( NAFDAC) as a Department in the Nigeria customs service for effective implementation of the functions of the two agencies.
To stop domination of courier services business by foreigners he wants Government to ensure proper regulation of the industry and create the enabling environment for indigenous investors.
Dr. Musa also advised the media to play it’s role as the watchdog of the society by consistently ensuring that Public officials are Transparent & accountable for their stewardship .
