2027: “Tinubu Can’t Lose when he has men like Yari, Kalu, Ganduje, Ibori Backing Him” – Lamido

The Pioneer Leader of Arewa Summit International, Dr. Bashir Lamido, has dismissed the possibility of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu losing his re-election bid in 2027, citing the strong backing of key political figures.
Speaking at the Abuja Expo and Ruhe Global Resources International Education Fair on Wednesday, Lamido stated that the support of former Zamfara State Governor Abdul’aziz Yari, former Abia State Governor Orji Uzor Kalu, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, and former Delta State Governor James Ibori makes it nearly impossible for the opposition to unseat Tinubu.
Opposition’s Disunity a Major Weakness
Lamido questioned the opposition’s ability to present a united front against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“When you talk about the possibility of the coalition wrestling power from the ruling party, you should also ask yourself—can they even agree among themselves?” he said. “The major opposition parties, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP), are battling internal crises. Does the Social Democratic Party (SDP) have the strength to lead a coalition ahead of 2027?”
He further cast doubts on the opposition’s ability to settle on a consensus candidate. “Who will fly the ticket? Is it Atiku Abubakar or Peter Obi? Is it Nasir El-Rufai or Yemi Osinbajo? Is it Rotimi Amaechi or Bukola Saraki? All of them have presidential ambitions and are unwilling to step down for another.”
Tinubu’s Political Strategy
Lamido credited Tinubu’s ability to consolidate power, particularly by securing the loyalty of key political figures.
“At a time when people thought Yari, Kalu, and Ibori might join the opposition, President Tinubu strengthened his relationship with them, making them reliable allies,” he said. “The president cannot lose when he has men like them.”
According to Lamido, these political heavyweights are already laying the groundwork for Tinubu’s 2027 victory. “Yari is engaging in heavy empowerment in the North, Kalu is doing the same in the South and even extending his influence to the North. They meet with the president regularly, and their activities are being streamlined for victory.”
Economic Hardship and Tinubu’s Long-Term Vision
While acknowledging the economic difficulties facing Nigerians, Lamido argued that the president’s reforms would yield positive long-term results.
“Yes, the key reforms are causing hardship, and ordinary Nigerians are struggling,” he admitted. “But in the long run, the economy will be more robust and stable.”
With the 2027 elections approaching, political analysts continue to watch how the opposition will respond to Tinubu’s growing influence and strategic alliances.
